World's largest institution for indigenous children and youth

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) is the world's largest fully residential institution for tribal children, founded with love and compassion.
It empowers 80,000 indigenous lives with free education, food, accommodation and care, from kindergarten to post graduation.
Alongside KIIT, it serves over 80,000 marginalised students with dignity, believing that education is the strongest pillar of equality.
Its higher education unit is recognised under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and KISS was conferred the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize 2022 for its contribution to the preservation of indigenous languages.

Prof. Achyuta Samanta

Prof. Achyuta Samanta is an educationist, humanitarian and a statesman.
He grew up in Kalarabanka, Odisha amidst severe poverty with seven siblings and a widowed mother, losing his father in a train accident at the age of four and braving every hardship to complete his Masters.
In 1992, while working as a Chemistry lecturer, he founded a polytechnic institution with just 100 dollars, an iron will and strong passion.
It grew into a University in 2004, known by its acronym KIIT.
In the same year he founded Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) to provide education to indigenous boys and girls, free of cost.
